Third Grade gardeners made signs for the plants in their Kumeyaay garden for the first time this year. Now everyone will know what native plants are in the garden! Here are some of the pictures!

Diary of a Worm-Composter

Fifth Graders have set up worm composters as well as thermal composters in our garden this year. They made a sign showing what can and cannot go into the garden.  1st graders also have been studying worms, setting up their own worm composter with Miss Felix, and using worms as a subject for nonfiction and narrative writing. They wrote their own Diary of a Worm entries, after studying the book Diary of a Spider.

Grade Two wrote some fabulous poetry about potatoes — Potatoetry — and wrote it on painted tires. Then they planted potatoes inside the tires! Here’s a link to a guest blog post about the project that I did for National Poetry Month. http://www.ekristinanderson.com/?p=8814

Here are photos of the project.
