Second graders in Ms. Endoso’s, Ms. McCall’s and Mrs. Glover’s classes worked to pull grass out of a very weedy Community Service plot. Later in the year, they will be donating the turnips and greens in the plot to a local food bank as part of a Farms-to-Kids produce program. In this case, it will be a donation of kids to kids, as the produce will be given to school children without food security.
The students also added air and compost to the soil in their own Ancestor garden beds. Within days, the plants in both of their plots had grown bigger and stronger as a result! Soon, the Ancestor garden produce will be ready to cook!
